THE FREMONTS ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF MUSIC FOR THEIR FUNERALS

ON FRIDAY JULY 25th, 2025
The Fremonts are releasing re-recorded versions of their full-length albums, along with a new music video.

Because life is fleeting, but Spotify is forever.

The Fremonts have been singing into each other’s faces for over a decade. After sold-out performances of their original cabaret in New York City, Colorado, Massachusetts and at the Edinburgh Fringe, plus a tour through Tajikistan as Cultural Ambassadors with the US State Department, they retreated into the studio to develop an album of fresh songs. But life had other plans and slapped them with a host of mid-life woes, including, but not limited to, complicated health issues, relationship struggles, a crumbling old house, a fertility fiasco and the death of their beloved dogchild. Their eyes were humbly opened to the fact that life is fleeting, but Spotify is forever.

The Fremonts paused work on their new songs in favor of upgrading their existing full-length albums (WE DON’T LIVE THERE and THE FAILURE CABARET) with polished vocals and additional instrumentals, so their families would have something nice to play at their funerals should they suddenly drop dead. Their existential panic resulted in a heartfelt, energized collection of rerecorded music, ranging from traditional folk to cabaret to indie pop, all delivered with good, old-fashioned sinister charm. Both albums will be rereleased on all streaming platforms on FRIDAY JULY 25th 2025.

We Don’t live there
(2025 re-release)

Album Description:

Genre: Americana / Alt-Country / Folk
On We Don’t Live There, The Fremonts weave midwestern ghost stories into restless Americana music. Stephanie Dodd (originally from Fremont NE -  vocals / keyboard / xylophone / accordion) and Justin Badger (originally from Fremont CA - vocals/guitar/kickdrum) lace their sound with bluegrass, country, blues, folk and indie pop influences. By blending Dodd’s lyrical voice and Badger’s turbulent style, they take on a range of topics from sprawling tales of escape and ambition to quiet disenchantment with traditional roles in American family life. Many of these songs were written in NYC as part of theatrical collaborations. The album was originally recorded in 2017 in a fancy studio in Boulder CO with a full band, strings and a choir. The Fremonts rereleased this album in 2025 with updated vocals and the original instrumental tracks.

The failure cabaret
(2025 re-release)

Hi Res Album Cover_3.19.19.jpg

Album Description:

Genre: Americana / Cabaret / Folk
On The Failure Cabaret, The Fremonts return to their theatrical roots and blend a cabaret vibe into their americana sound. After leaving NYC and their acting career ambitions behind, Stephanie Dodd (Vocals/Accordion/Flute - Fremont NE) & Justin Badger (Vocals/Guitar - Fremont CA) moved to Boulder and started writing music. This album, originally presented with stripped down arrangements in 2019, received a makeover in 2025 with upgraded instrumentals and vocals, as well as entirely new tracks. This collection explores what The Fremonts have learned about marriage, mental health and getting back up. This album has a companion piece, a live comedy cabaret by the same title, which was born when Executive Producer, Chuck Porter declared, “Let’s make a show, kids!” after a few beers in a hotel bar.

“Their storytelling, discovery, and beat shifts are impeccably nuanced. Cabaret can often be rough and unpolished, and while this is gritty, it is also executed perfectly. Dodd and Badger have taken their dysfunctional love story and created a masterpiece.”

-Skylar Mabry, The Reviews Hub

“Not only have Stephanie Dodd and Justin Badger been airing their “failures,” they’ve been stealing hearts, too. How can they not, when the two engaging actor/musicians present, with devastating honesty and stellar comedic timing the circumstances that brought them to this time and place?”

-Lisa Green, Rural Intelligence

“'How do we get to the light, to the beauty and calm we see on the horizon? How do we tame the chaos of our hearts?'  The Fremonts’ answer is to work your ass off to make your own place, and that’s exactly what they have done. They stake a claim, and they’re not giving it up."
